As we move into August, Alma, Colorado, offers a variety of events for residents and visitors alike. Here are some highlights to look forward to:
South Park Bluegrass Festival
While the South Park Bluegrass Festival took place on July 3–4, 2026, it remains a cornerstone summer event in Park County. Hosted by Local Folk, the festival featured an outstanding mix of bluegrass, folk, and roots musicians from across the country and the region. Attendees enjoyed performances by artists such as Foggy Memory Boys, Uptown Toodaloo, Coral Creek, and many more. The festival’s outdoor, high-country setting provided a family-friendly atmosphere that celebrated live music in the heart of Alma.
Leadville Trail 100 MTB Race
On August 15, 2026, the Leadville Trail 100 MTB race is set to proceed, despite recent challenges posed by the Willow Fire near Leadville. Organizers have received a preliminary “green light” from authorities, with the fire reaching 37% containment and air quality improving. However, participants should be aware that the 104-mile course will undergo significant rerouting due to US Forest Service closures in affected areas. Detailed course updates and crew information will be provided as the event approaches. This race continues to draw elite riders and remains a significant event in the region’s cycling calendar.
Stay tuned for more updates on local events and activities in and around Alma as the summer progresses.
